PhinC provides Biotech with the Best Modeling Tools Used in Big Pharma

PhinC Development has strengthened its provisions in terms of pharmacometrics. This new PBPK service (Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics) is powered by GastroPlus® software, acquired in partnership with Genopole®. Such efficient but expensive technology will be no longer be reserved to “big pharma” but will now also be available to smaller biotechnology companies in drug development.

In France, there are about 300 molecules under clinical development for therapeutic or diagnostic use. Although a relevant number of these molecules will enter clinical development, only a few will actually be available to patients. Extensive analysis of preclinical data appears to be one of the main ways to limit the number of “false starts” for new molecules that will never reach the later phases of development.

Better use of preliminary data is made possible using predictive models from PBPK approaches. GastroPlus® software perfectly suits this approach by performing intra- and inter-species simulations of compound absorption and distribution. Thanks to this iterative approach, a first PBPK model has been constructed on the basis of experimental results obtained at early stages. The models are then adjusted at each stage of preclinical development and new simulations are made by comparing the experimental results. It allows the study plan to be optimized from preclinical studies to first-in-man trials, thus saving time, limiting the number of preclinical experiments on animals and, finally, reducing the overall cost of development.
